Hebrews 4:4-9 Verse 9 tells us that The Rest For The People of God Is The Sabbath Greek Sabbatismos NiV, NAsB,ASV, RSV, NRSV, Amplified Say Sabbath Rest Darby says Sabbatism
Numbers 23: 20 God Can Not Reverse What He Blesses.
Luke 23: 56 Rested on Sabbath According To Commandment. Does Not say what used to be the Sabbath nor the First Day of The Week.
Matthew 24: 20 Pray that your flight not be in winter neither on the Sabbath.. Matthew 24: 1-3 and 16-19 Destruction of Jerusalem which happened in AD 70. 40 years after the death of Jesus. If this is just for the Jews then Jesus is coming just for the Jews. Matthew 24 talks about the signs of the end of the world.
Gal 3: 15 and Heb 9: 16-17 God can not change His Covenant. Jesus death as Testator sealed The Sabbath and all God's Commands. Jesus did not tell anyone to keep First Day of the week while He was alive. The Worship of First Day had to start while Jesus was alive not after He is dead. This is absurd.
Acts 13: 14 Paul keeps the Sabbath in Antioch in Pisidia. This is not a Jewish settlement. Acts 13: 42-44. The Gentlies request Paul to preach to them on The next Sabbath. Acts 17:1-2 Paul keeps the Sabbath in Thessalonica for three Sabbaths. This is not a Jewish Settlement.
Acts 18:1, 4 Paul keeps the Sabbath in Corinth. Persuades JEWS and GREEKS. This is not a Jewish Sellement. Jews and Greeks keep Sabbath.
Even in the Old Testament in Isaiah 56: 6 The NON Jews Came under God's Covenant and were keeping God's Sabbath.
The Great Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 66: 22-23 looks past our day to the Heaven and sees all of God's People keeping God's Sabbath . Jews and Greeks. Gentiles. EVERYBODY

Yes, I have met the man called Dale Ratzlaff. He has completely turned away from the truths of God's Word. He is a wolf in sheeps clothing and he tries his best to draw SDA's out of the church.
He finds fault with Ellen White all the time and tries to twist the Spirit of Prophecy to show that she is a false prophet/ messenger of the Lord.
PLEASE PRAY PRAY PRAY PRAY for him. He needs the guidance from God. I hope he will come back to the SDA Church in the future like so many others have. Others have left the SDA Church to return and be apart of God's Church again. I hope it happens to Dale Ratzlaff.
I told him that I was praying for him. I told him that I loved him. He may have left the church but he will always get my christian love. God! Please lead him back to your church!!!! That is my prayer.

Hello, Martin.

Wow, it's been forever. Of course, it's highly unlikely that you remember me. I think we met while I was at CUC back in 1987-1989. So, yeah, a long time ago. I think we met through Richard Fredericks. Anyway, I got an e-mail from Gary Councell telling about your DMin project and found your blog.

So I was reading the intro and started searching the pdf document for a definition of legalism. I don't mean a dictionary definition, but a theological one. Since legalism or any of its forms are not in the Bible, it's easy to use broadly or vaguely. Like people who use OCD or depression (even professionals) referring to individual behavior in non-clinical ways, even though these terms have specific clinical definitions. I wasn't sure how you were using legalism. I mean, by the dictionary definition, God is the ultraleglalist. (As in, "you eat this fruit, and you're dead!"). :-)

Anyway, I trust all is well with you and my hope is that your kids are among the Lamb's best friends.

Grace and Peace.

I regret that Lynn was told that he/she (so sorry - I am not sure if Lynn is a male or female name) was going to hell by leaving the SDA Church. And I am pleased to hear that he/she has found freedom outside of the church now. The church is not for everyone.
I hope for you the very best as you go forward in your journey of faith.

It is true that all to often SDA's have made EGW their source of salvation rather than the Bible and Jesus Himself. From what I have read from her books - she would be the last person to offer herself as the final word on salvation. Using the ten commandments as a means of salvation is an impossibility. Only the life and blood of Jesus can do that. As an SDA minister I try to help people to understand that most important of all truths. Too bad that someone people still do not receive that understanding but we continue to try and lift up Jesus our ONLY hope.

I am enjoying reading how ministers and authors of other faith are coming to appreciate the Sabbath and what it means. The most recent is a book written by Pastor Peter Scarzerro, "The Emotionally Healthy Church." In it he describes the importance of embracing grief and loss. Sabbath was the day in-between crisis and victory. His point is the value of embracing our pain and let that experience bring healing. The Sabbath, therefore, is a symbol for healing and wholeness.

It seems to me that the great critics of the Sabbath are former members who have experienced hurt and pain at the hands of people who inflict hurt and pain. Perhaps it isn't the Sabbath that should receive the focus. I believe it is true that - hurt people in turn hurt people. My vote is with Pastor Scarzerro, a minister of a faith other than my own, let's see how the true meaning and application of Sabbath can bring healing and reconciliation.

I have recently left the SDA church. You know I was never told I was deceived or lost or going to hell til I left this church. Hummm..... I remember Jesus saying, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life". Our salvation is all about Jesus and what He has accomplished for us and our "work" is to believe in Jesus. If we believe, we will not perish but we have eternal life. Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth, the Life". Truth is not EGW. Truth is not the SDA church. Truth is JESUS. Life is JESUS. The Way is Jesus. It's all about Jesus. Let's get back to the basics. Let's get back to the true New Covenant Gospel. It's about JESUS JESUS JESUS...... and ONLY HIM! Jesus also stated that "they will know you are My disciples by your love for one another". SDA's teach that God's true people will be known for what day they keep as the sabbath. They have replaced Jesus with a day....the 7th day. They have replaced the salvation by faith in Jesus with keeping the sabbath. SDAism is all about itself. It is an arrogant, boastful, prideful, judgmental, and bigoted religious system. I would know. I was a sixth generation SDA. Was educated in their system from grades 1-college. Went to many, many, many prophecy seminars. Did several SDA bible correspondence courses. I was very very indocrinated. I thank God every day for setting me free from a church that really would be more accurately described as a para-cult. Now I can just bring people to Jesus and let the Holy Spirit do "the cleaning". It's all about relationship not rules (our ministry is a ministry of reconcilation 2 Cor 5). "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus." Rm8:1 "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, OLD things have passed away, behold all things have become NEW." 2 Cor 5:17
"Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God." 1 Jn15
"you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise..." Eph 1:13
"Beloved do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world." 1Jn 4:1
I have tested EGW with the Word....she has failed. I have found that several of her teachings go directly against the scriptures and actually demean the work of Christ that He did at the cross and is doing right now in heaven.
It's time to take off your SDA/EGW reading glasses and give the Holy Spirit a chance to teach you all things for Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth..... not EGW...the Holy Spirit!!
Oh Lord please set the captives FREE!!
